Green Farming

The Dutton family is committed to the preservation of the land for present and future generations.

All of our orchards are certified organic by CCOF. All of our vineyards are 100% sustainably farmed. We use cover crops for erosion control, water absorption, and as a means of putting nitrogen back into the soil. Many of our older, well-established vineyards are dry farmed. We have developed programs to reduce machinery in the vineyards lowering fuel usage and compaction of the earth. We also recycle glass, cardboard, paper, tires, batteries, plastic, steel and other scrap metals.

One of our farm worker housing dormitories derives all of its electricity from solar panels. On the ranch we have dormitory housing that accommodates 96 workers. We also have 12 single family houses for our foremen and their families, and co-own houses and land with four of our long-term employees.
